Bush's Federal Survey on Youth and Drugs is a Lie

John Walters, Bush's drug war bitch, released his federally funded survey on incidence of substance use among the youth of America.  Started 32 years ago as a Nixon Kissinger attempt to save the nation from the scourge of drugs - mainly marijuana - and used now to justify their continued War on People and the Constitution.

John Walters, ONDCP, actually said something like this, "There was a time, when some baby boomers (he actually used those words) tried to convince us that drugs are part an acceptable life style.  We have spent enormous enrgy correcting this attitude.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?  Unless, of course, your lifestyle needs correcting by the government.

The survey should be called "Substance use among American youth attending school", since the statistical base only included 4800 students in both private and public schools.

I checked the clock to see how long it would take John Walters, arch enemy of the peaceful plant, to mention marijuana.  One minute.  "Good news, marijuana use is down by 25%."

Even better news, he goes on, is that meth use by youth is down 50% since 2001.  Everyone, the police, the schools, the hospitals, the jails, the neighbors know that meth use is way up in the last five years!

When you throw quiet, peaceful stoners out of school and into jail, for simple posseion or attempting to conspire to possess a marijuana, these students conveniently drop out of their survey.

When kids start using meth, they very shortly drop out of school so I guess they just don't count anymore.

When they die from heroin or Oxycontin overdose, they stop being counted completely.

When college kids die from acute alcohol poisoning, our culture accepts that as a correct lifestyle?  "Ah, you know, just kids trying to have a little fun."

I also question the validity of the study's anonymous factor. What smart teenager these days hasn't learned to lie and keep quiete about their drug use. They've witnessed their firends and classmates being handcuffed, perp walked, thrown in jail, tried in court, maybe convicted and sent to prison for .... marijuana.

John Walters, get a clue.  If domestic cannabis is one of the top US cash crops, someone's smoking it.

Meth abuse is truly the scourge on our children, schools and communities and John Walters, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, should be ashamed that meth and pharmaceutical abuse hasn't been their main focus.  You know, the drugs that actually kill kids.

I hold the Bush Administration, Karen Tandy, director of the DEA, and John Walters responsible for the meth plague in our beloved country.

Molly Goes to the Garden Store

The old woman slipped furtively through the door, the tinkling bell alerting the shopkeeper. Looking around the store, Molly pulled her hat lower down around her face until she was sure no others customers were there. There weren’t. The owner was in attendance today, bent down stocking plastic bottles of varying sizes onto shelves against the back wall.

Molly used to be a regular customer so Kate recognized her with a cheery “Well, hello there. Haven’t seen you forever.” She always trusted Kate, their conversations had actually been quite friendly and detailed over several years, but Molly knew now, these days, you can’t trust anyone. No chit-chat today. Molly wanted to buy what she needed as quickly as possible and get out of there.

She had a list which she gave to Kate. At the bottom she’d written in red, “Please box all items and tape securely”. It wasn’t much protection, silly almost, but it gave Molly some comfort to know the police would have to get a search warrant to open sealed boxes. If she got pulled over on the way home, if they were watching the store and followed her and then pulled her over … risks even this old lady has to take, she reminded herself.

As Kate gathered the items throughout the shop and put them in a plain brown box, Molly looked at products she hadn’t seen before. Bright colored labels promised amazing results. Bigger, better flowers, more vigorous growth, protection against mites and pests and fungus. 1000 watt metal halide and 400 watt high pressure sodium lights hung from the ceiling with different shaped hoods to fit any space. Against another wall, black plastic pots and growing medium overfilled shelves onto the floor. Water bubbled from a circulating fountain in the middle of the shop, with voluminous greenery reaching the ceiling and front window.

The bell tinkled and Molly swung around to see a tanned and muscled “hippie” walk through the door. He had the requisite long hair pulled back into a ponytail, the ‘peace & rock’ t-shit was just dirty enough, the jeans only slightly ragged with barely a hint of the crease that once was ironed in. He could just as easily been wearing a sign saying “Undercover Cop” since undercover he obviously wasn’t.

Molly’s heart eased into her throat. Long ago she learned not to respond or make any sudden move around cops. Her facial expression remained friendly, her body language neutral. She’d prepared at home keeping her gaze straight, her breathing normal, practicing somewhat dramatically that Nazis were at her door and she had to pretend that Jewish family wasn’t really living in her basement.

Now she was face to face with a determined member of the Spokane County Drug Task Team and/or DEA and he had her in his sights.

Police Draw Weapons on Innocent Babies and Bicyclists

Whenever anyone points a loaded weapon at any one of our children, you better believe this is a war. This happened in front of our house in a residential block, north-central Spokane. Wednesday, Nov 22, 2006 12:45 pm. A young man in his 20’s riding a bicycle. Patrol car with two Spokane police officers pull him over and order him off his bike. He was not wearing a helmet and apparently that alone gives the officers probable cause. They immediately searched his backpack. As they ordered him to sit on the curb, they said something like this, “If you do anything stupid we can shoot you.” At another point, as he was still sitting quietly, they again referred to shooting him, by saying “If we find any knives or dirty syringes in here, we can shoot you.”
